Terms of use

These terms are an agreement between you and Wasl (Kingdom of Bahrain) — “we” and “us” below. Installing or using Wasl means you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the app.

1. Who may use Wasl

You must be at least 18 years old. You must be able to enter a contract where you live. One account is for one person; the app is designed for a single user and is not a shared account for a couple.

2. What Wasl is, and what it is not

Wasl provides conversation prompts, a private place to keep notes and recordings, date reminders, and an optional menstrual cycle log with guidance written for a partner.

Wasl is not:

• therapy, counselling, coaching by a professional, or a substitute for any of them;
• medical advice, a medical device, a diagnosis, or a treatment;
• a contraceptive or a fertility aid;
• a guarantee of any outcome in your relationship.

We make no claim about results. Nothing in the app or on this site should be read as a promise that using it will improve, save or change a relationship. If you are dealing with something serious — including abuse, harm, or a mental-health crisis — contact a qualified professional or your local emergency service.

3. Cycle predictions

Predicted periods, fertile windows and ovulation estimates are calculated from the dates you enter. Cycles vary and ovulation shifts, so these are estimates and nothing more. Do not use them to plan or prevent a pregnancy, and do not use them in place of medical guidance. The phase guidance is written as possibilities to notice, not statements about how a person feels.

4. Your responsibility to the other person

Most of what you will write in Wasl is about someone else. You are responsible for what you record about them, and for having their agreement where it is needed — which for cycle and health information means asking them first, as a matter of law in some places and of decency everywhere. Do not use Wasl to monitor, track or build a record about anyone who has not agreed to it, and do not use it to record anyone you do not have a relationship with.

5. Your content

What you write, photograph and record is yours. We claim no ownership of it and no licence to use it, because in the ordinary case we never receive it: it is stored on your device. If you use an account, we store it as ciphertext we cannot read, purely so we can give it back to you. You are responsible for keeping your own backups — Settings → Export backup exists for exactly that.

6. Accounts, keys and the thing you cannot undo

If you create an account, the encryption key for your data is wrapped by your password and by a recovery key shown to you once. If you lose both, your synced data is unrecoverable, by you and by us. That is a consequence of real encryption rather than a limitation we could remove, and the app warns you before you commit. Keep the recovery key somewhere safe. You are responsible for the security of your password and your device.

7. Subscriptions, trial and billing

Wasl is a subscription. There are no advertisements in the app and no sale of your data; the subscription is how it is paid for.

• Free trial. New users get a one month free trial with full access. Cancel before it ends and you are not charged. The exact length is set by whichever store you subscribe through and is shown to you before you confirm.
• Billing. Subscriptions are sold and billed by Google Play or the Apple App Store, not by us. Prices, currencies and taxes are shown in the store before you confirm.
• Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, which you do in your Google Play or App Store account settings — not in the app, because the store controls it.
• Refunds. Refunds follow the policy of whichever store you bought through. Write to us anyway if something went wrong and we will help where we can.
• Promotional offers. Where we run an offer, its own stated conditions apply alongside these terms. We may verify eligibility, and we may withdraw an offer for future sign-ups. We will not shorten a free period you have already been granted.
• Price changes. If a price changes we will tell you before it applies to you, and you can cancel.

If you stop subscribing, the data on your device stays on your device.

8. Acceptable use

Do not reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to extract source code except where the law expressly allows it; do not resell, sublicense or redistribute the app or its content; do not use it to store unlawful material; and do not attempt to break its security or access another person's account.

9. Our content

The questions, follow-ups, guidance text, design and code are ours or licensed to us. Using the app gives you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your own relationship. It does not let you republish the question decks or the guidance as your own product.

10. Availability

The app is offline-first, so it keeps working when we do not. We still make no promise of uninterrupted availability for account features, this website, or any particular version remaining supported. We may change or discontinue features; where a change removes something you paid for, you may cancel, and store refund policies apply.

11. Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, the app is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data where you had the means to back it up, or for anything arising from reliance on cycle predictions or phase guidance. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or anything else that cannot be limited by law. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Ending it

You can stop using Wasl at any time by deleting the app, and delete your account from Settings. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, and will tell you why where we can.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and its courts have jurisdiction, without affecting any consumer rights you have where you live that cannot be waived.

14. Changes

If we change these terms we will update the date above and, for material changes, tell you in the app before they take effect. Continuing to use Wasl after that means you accept the new version.
